Dear
Friend
,
"Arms in the hands of the citizens may be used at individual discretion for the defense of the country, the overthrow of tyranny or private self-defense." — John Adams
The State of Texas passed laws that allow us to carry concealed handguns for self-protection. Obtaining a permit to carry concealed in the State of Texas requires a 10 hour Concealed Handgun License Certification Course which is outlined by the State Department of Public Safety and covers the use of force, gun safety, gun storage, dispute resolution and Texas laws regarding use of force as a defense and licensing requirements.
Obtaining a permit to carry concealed in the State of Texas requires completion of the course, qualifying with a handgun at the range, and passing a 50 question test. The applicant then applies and pays a fee to the State which completes a background check and completes the issuance of the license.
The licensee must recertify with the State every 5 years. We offer the required recertification classes Check with DPS on your third renewal to see if you need to take the class.
Click on the Schedule button above to see our classes. Click on the register button by the date of the class and maps to the class and range will come up with an outline of the class. Recertifiers join the class for their qualification and instruction at the range. You can pay online or call me to set up to pay at class.

Dottie, my wife of 43 years (Certificate 00004326), AND I (Certificate 00002707) are Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) certified Concealed Handgun License Instructors and also certified to teach national Rifle Association training classes. I am also an NRA Range Safety Officer. We offer Basic Handgun Classes once monthly which includes the NRA Basic Pistol Training with on range handgun instruction to develop proficiency. We are setting up more advanced classes on self defense, in home and outside the home. Call for information.
We both were raised in central and south Texas and were involved in shooting and hunting. I served in the US Air Force, then built and owned a marina in the Florida Keys, and have owned and operated several related businesses in Texas since our return in the early 80’s. Dottie is a hunter, pack hiker, and worked as a legal assistant in Florida and Texas for 47 years. We are familiar with the development of the laws in place and have a good basis for teaching classes on the use of force as a defense.
We assist several groups with public information and gun safety instruction. If you know of a group we can assist or you have any questions, please call our office toll-free at 866-514-2197.
We gratefully acknowledge the assistance of the following businesses and ask that you patronize them when you can.
